The tomb was also notable for the absence of valuable burial artifacts, which had been stolen, leaving only various painted coffins, jars, and wooden boats.

After years of stalled investigations, a collaboration with FBI experts led to a breakthrough in understanding the mummy’s origins. Previous attempts to extract DNA from the mummy had failed due to the challenging conditions of ancient Egyptian environments. However, Dr. Odile Loreille of the FBI successfully extracted DNA from tooth dust using a novel method, revealing that the disembodied head belonged to Djehutynakht.
