As Grace prepares for the return of her husband, who is missing in action, she hires a new set of servants to help around the house. Strange events begin to occur, such as unexplained noises and glimpses of mysterious figures. Anne, the young daughter, begins to claim that the house is haunted by “the others,” and Grace grows increasingly paranoid as the occurrences escalate.
Grace’s determination to protect her children leads her to uncover shocking truths about the mansion and her family’s past. The twist reveals that Grace and her children have been dead all along, and the “others” are the living occupants of the house. The film ends with Grace coming to terms with her death and the reality of her situation.
