Speaker Mike Johnson dismissed the Norwegian Prime Minister’s defense against President Trump’s criticism today, insisting the foreign leader has the power to secure the Nobel Peace Prize for the President.

The dispute stems from a Sunday text in which Trump berated Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre for the Nobel loss while demanding control of Greenland. When a reporter noted that Støre had explained the Norwegian government does not award the independent prize, Johnson rejected the excuse.
“No, but it’s his country, and he has a lot of influence,” Johnson told the reporter.

Doubling down on the President’s grievance, Johnson argued that Trump is “probably the most deserving individual in history” of the honor.
“There are 8 to 10 wars and conflicts that’ve been resolved by President Trump, and he got snubbed,” Johnson declared.
