She doesn’t mess around when it comes to her image. Dua Lipa has filed a lawsuit against Samsung after the brand used a photo of her without her permission. The pop star appeared on several boxes of certain televisions sold in the United States. The image was taken backstage at the “Austin City Limits” festival in Texas, just before the singer went on stage, as reported by RTL .
The singer of ” Levitating” is seeking $15 million in damages, according to a lawsuit filed Friday, May 8, in a U.S. court for the Central District of California. The document alleges that Samsung’s packaging was “designed to inappropriately capitalize on Ms. Lipa’s hard-earned success to promote and sell Samsung products.”
According to the singer’s team, the South Korean brand ignored “repeated requests” to “stop infringing on her rights,” adding that the brand’s response was “contemptuous and dismissive.” Highly attentive to managing her image, Dua Lipa has forged numerous partnerships with major brands such as Nespresso, Puma, Versace, Yves Saint Laurent, and Bulgari. For the time being, Samsung has not removed the image from its packaging.
